1/22/07 - A picture is worth a thousand words
But I'll add one more: Wow! A record crowd of nearly 7200 racers visited the 2007 show on January 21 and 22. Saturday was a packed house all day long. And, despite a snow advisory and the Bears in the playoffs, Sunday was pleasantly full as well. The 2008 show will be held on January 19 and 20, 2008 at the Schaumburg Convention Center. 1/15/07 - IT IS OFFICIAL !!! THE TRADE SHOW SECTION OF THE WORLD DRAG EXPO IS SOLD OUT !!!
If you are wonder about making a long drive to the show? As of 2:30 this afternoon, the trade show section is SOLD out! That's right race fans the show is OFFICIALLY more than doubled in size since last years expo! A HANDFUL OF SWAP MEET AND CAR CORRAL BOOTHS STILL AVAILABLE
As of today, we still have 7 remaining swap meet booths and about 15 spots allotted spaces for the race car corral area. Laurie Silvey commented "We usually have a few swap meet folks just show up Friday Afternoon and want a booth, I think this year they may be disappointed when we have no last minute spaces." 1/15/07 - Arnie Beswick to Display "Tameless Tiger".
The Schaumburg Convention Center could be filled to capacity alone with fans of the legendary Arnie Beswick. Arnie will be on hand to hang-out with all of his racing buddies and to display the newly rebuilt "Tameless Tiger" match race Tempest. After Arnie's recovery from serious burns in an accident with the Tameless Tiger, the Tiger has been reconstructed and Arnie has singe made some incredible passes in the Tempest this fall. Make sure to stop by to see Arnie and congratulate him on his recovery (and his recent induction into the International Drag Racing Hall of Fame). |

1/15/07 - Brodix to Display new Cylinder Head and Block Components
When you are strolling around booth 815 to 817, the big Brodix Cylinder Heads display will be worth a stop to check out some of the new cylinder heads and engine blocks they have on display. 1/4/07 - Cedar Falls and Eddyville join Cordova at Drag News Expo
Now that Cedar Falls Raceway (Cedar Falls, IA) and Eddyville Raceway Park (Oskaloosa, IA) have common ownership linking them together, they will join Cordova Dragway Park (Cordova, IL) at the Drag News Magazine Drag Expo.
"We are working on and should have a multi-track program announced at the Expo" said Scott Gardner. "We have been working on something special and the Expo is a great place to debut it" he continued.
Also new for 2007 is the change in sanction to the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA). With this change, Cordova Dragway Park will host a popular Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Event in August and Eddyville Raceway Park will host a NHRA National Open in May.
Another feature of the Cordova, Eddyville, Cedar Falls peninsula will be the Ford Mustang drag car charity project for Jake Littrell. This 10 - second car was built for a former Cordova Dragway employee, Jake Littrell, who lost his battle with cancer. See more on Jake and his family story in this Quad City Times story. Jake passed away at 17 years-old and never raced the car as it wasn't completed until after his passing by a number of racing companies and craftsmen that constructed a first class race car in his honor. All proceeds from the $100 raffle tickets will be provided to the family to help offset medical bills.

12/14/06 - Do YOU have your Illinois tax number yet... -
All exhibitors who plan to sell and deliver merchandise paid for at the show will need to complete an Exhibitor Approval Application. You will need to provide an Illinois Business tax number. Please complete the form and return it to the address or fax number at the top of the application. This needs to be returned to the Expo center at least one week before the show.
If you do not have an Illinois tax number and need to obtain one, it only takes 1-2 days to get one online at the Secretary of State's business department located at: https://www.revenue.state.il.us/app/ibri

11/30/06 - Make your hotel reservations online -
The Renaissance Schaumburg Hotel and Convention Center has provided a group code for Expo attendees to use when making your reservations online. Contrary to rumors being bandied around about the Schaumburg Convention Center being a union hall, it is non-union, and exhibitors are welcome to move in their own displays and inventory on move-in day via the loading docks and ramps in the back of the center. |

The beautiful newly built Renaissance Schaumburg Hotel is connected to the Schaumburg Convention Center and has signed on as the official hotel for the show. 9/1/06 2006 Trailer parking permits -
The Schaumburg Convention Center wants the attendees of the show to have plenty of parking on the grounds to come in to the show and buy from the exhibitors. Therefore, they do not allow any trailer parking on the parking lot of the Convention Center for businesses, swappers, or car corral exhibitors. 24 hour security will be provided at two fenced in marshalling yards off-site. You must pick up a marshalling yard permit at no extra charge from the registration desk on move-in day. Need something from your trailer during the show? A shuttle driver with a van will be available at any time during all show hours throughout the weekend if you need a ride to the marshalling yard on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. The lot will be locked with no access during all overnight hours and will reopen one hour before the show and one hour after the show each day. You must show a permit to match your trailer permit in order to be allowed access to the lot. |
